Immunity Boosting Through Ayurveda - Home Tips During Corona Period

What one consumes for sustenance plays a huge role in one’s bodily constitution. Food is medicine and the best way to naturally boost one’s immunity is to change dietary habits and include healthy food/beverages to complement a healthy lifestyle. A holistic approach in terms of food has been practiced in Ayurveda ever since its inception and it’s principles have been passed down from generations. The following are a few easy recipes one can experiment with in the comfort of their homes to drastically improve and bolster the immune system.

Coriander coffee:

Ingredients:

Roast coriander seeds, cumin seeds and fenugreek. Crush the Shunti and cardamom. Grind all the ingredients together. Add water and jaggery as per taste and bring it to a boil. Drink the beverage while it’s hot for maximum results.

Amrutham Juice

Ingredients:

Blend all ingredients together with 2 cups of water and strain it. Add honey/salt as per preference and add a dash of lime/lemon juice for taste.

Ayur Tea

Ingredients:

Grind all the ingredients together make it into powder form, except Holy basil leaves, Bay leaf and Rock sugar. Keep this powder in a dry container. Take 2 cups of water added with 1 tsp of above said powder, one Bay leaf and six Holy basil leaves. Boil it well then. Then add sufficient quantity of powdered crystallized sugar into it. Drink it in hot form.

Medicated Rice Porridge:

Ingredients:

After taking the required water, add 2 pinch of turmeric powder, half tsp of each fenugreek powder and cumin seed powder, sufficient quantity of asafoetida powder and four cloves of garlic into water and boil it. To the boiled water add half cup of green gram and half cup of rice. Boil it well for 45min.

Medicated boiled Buttermilk

Ingredients:

Take a glass of buttermilk and boil it by adding one pinch of turmeric powder, one piece of crushed dry ginger, pepper and coriander 5 each , one leaflet of curry leaves and ¼ tsp of fried ajwain fruits . Boil it well and filter it before use.

Dry-Ginger Coffee

Ingredients

Take one cup of water. Add 2 pinch of dried ginger powder, four peppers, six leaves of holy basil and five leaves of Indian coleus leaves to the water. Boil it well, then add sufficient quantity of coffee powder to it. Instead of sugar it is better to use Jaggery.

Cinnamon tea

Ingredients

In a pot, add cardamom, cinnamon, dried ginger and black pepper in water. Boil the content until about 1 cup of solution is left. If you choose to add honey, add before consuming when liquid is warm but not too hot to drink.

Lemon and Pepper Tea

Ingredients

Place the pepper and turmeric in the cup, and pour over boiling water. Stir in the lemon juice and honey, and you're sorted.

Tulsi Tea

Ingredients

Put the basil leaves into a saucepan with one and a quarter cup of water. Bring to a boil. Then bring down the flame to low for 15 minutes. Strain into a cup, then add the honey and lemon juice and stir.
